Meatball Meal

Meatball meal with creamy mashed potatoes and boiled green pumpkin, perfect and easy food for family dinner

Ingredients
  

For Meatballs
  • 1000 g ground beef (mince) can use 500g if you're preparing for less people
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced (you can use ground ginger too)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper (or any seasoning available)
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp dry thyme
  • 2 tbsp dry parsley
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
For the potato mash
  • 5-6 medium potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup milk look for consistent, add if still needed
  • 1 tbsp aromat
  • 1 tbsp potato seasoning
For the green pumpkin
  • 4-5 baby green pumpkin cutted into 2 equal parts
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
For the mushroom sauce
  • 1 packet mushroom
  • 2 tsp butter or just oil
  • ½ onion if using
  • 1 tsp seasonings
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp flour or cornstarch to thicken sauce

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or skillet
  • 3 Pots
  • Potato masher or fork
  • Knife and chopping board
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

Step 1: Prepare the Meatballs

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    Mix gently until everything is well combined (don’t overmix).
    Roll into medium-sized meatballs.
    Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    Fry meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through.
    Remove and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Mashed Potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until soft (about 15–20 minutes).
    Drain well and return to the pot.
    Add butter and mash until smooth.
    Slowly add warm milk while mashing until creamy.
    Season with potato seasoning or aromat.

Step 3: Cook the Green Pumpkin

  1. Place pumpkin pieces in a pot and cover with water.
    Add a pinch of salt.
    Boil until soft and tender.
    Drain and add butter if desired.
  2. Step 4: Prepare the Mushroom Sauce

  3. Heat butter and oil in a pan over medium heat.
    Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
    Add mushrooms and cook until they release moisture and brown slightly.
    Season using salt, or aromat, or any available seasonings.
    Sprinkle in flour and stir well to coat.
    Slowly pour in milk or cream while stirring to avoid lumps.
    Let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
